5 Good reasons to emigrate to Curacao

Here we tell you what the best sales tips are for if you want to sell your own house!

5 Good reasons to emigrate to Curacao

The pleasant climate of Curaçao with around 30 degrees Celsius all year round and a refreshing breeze is of course a must. With sun all day, you could wear slippers every day. How wonderful is that? Of the former Netherlands Antilles, Curaçao is the largest island with the most activity, schools, sports facilities and shops. While the surrounding islands mainly target tourists, daily life is also visible on Curaçao, but with much less stress because 'poko-poko' is the motto here. It is also nice that you can go there with the Dutch language, which makes the transition very easy. With 37 beaches on just 444 km2, there is always a beach nearby. So if you're looking forward to a holiday, pack heavy suitcases, avoid long lines at Schiphol and crowded beaches. Holidays within walking distance. That sounds fantastic, right?
But there are more good reasons to move to Curaçao:

1) Breathtaking underwater world

5 good reasons to emigrate to Curacao

Life underwater on Curaçao is perhaps even more impressive than on dry land. Deep-sea divers from all over the world travel specifically to this destination to admire the rich underwater fauna. Sea turtles, countless special fish, dolphins, giant manta rays and sometimes even whales can be spotted in the clear blue Caribbean water. Don't like deep sea diving with all the associated equipment? You can also fully enjoy the local underwater world while snorkeling just off the coast. Floating above a sunken wreck you will see that it is teeming with colorful fish, giving you the impression of being in a tropical aquarium. Don't forget to rub your back! And if you don't feel like wearing a wet suit at all, the Seaquarium is a solution. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions where you can get up close and personal with all the wildlife found in the waters surrounding the island.

2) Tropical beaches

Curaçao has many beaches, each with their own characteristics. In the rural western part of the island - called Bandabou - the beaches are natural and mainly offer relaxation. Some beaches are unspoilt, others have limited sanitary facilities and a modest hut to order a drink or fries, but there are also a few beaches with more extensive restaurants. A diving school here and there and that's all you really need in Bandabou. If you prefer hip & happening, then the popular beaches in the eastern part of the island are more for you. That part is known as Bandariba. Mambo Beach and Jan Thiel Bay are the most popular tourist hotspots there, with every conceivable facility, a string of modern beach clubs, bars, restaurants, nice shops and a range of entertainment. Something for everyone and all beaches have one thing in common: ideal beach weather all year round.

3) Beautiful Willemstad

The historic part of Willemstad is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List. More than justified if you ask us. No fewer than 750 special buildings, places and monuments are on this list. The rich history of Curaçao is still clearly visible in colorful colonial buildings, old forts, museums and a synagogue. The Mikve-Israel Emanuel Synagogue is the oldest Western synagogue still in use. Punda is seen as the center of Willemstad, here you will find the much-portrayed trading quay, the floating market with a daily supply of fresh fruit and vegetables from nearby Venezuela, the postal museum, the telemuseum and the water fort. In addition, Punda has a wide range of different shops, restaurants and eateries from all over the world, which underlines the diversity of the population with all different cultures. Nice for tourists, but even more fun to be part of it, right?

4) The floating market

Due to the warm climate, little rainwater and rocky soil, agriculture on the island is very limited. The population is therefore dependent on the import of fresh fruit and vegetables. The fresh products flown in by the larger supermarkets are relatively expensive due to the expensive refrigerated transport. Traders from neighboring Venezuela are taking advantage of this. They make the 60 km crossing, bring in their fresh products and moor at the quay in the city center, creating a floating market. If you don't want to pay too much for exotic fruits, beautiful vegetables and fresh fish, you can do well with the gentlemen of the floating market. And you will immediately make a lot of friends in the process.

5) More action

The island has plenty of space to relax, but there are also extensive options for sports enthusiasts who do not want to sit still, apart from all the usual sports. The hilly landscape offers adventurous routes for mountain bikers, the ever-present wind makes kite surfing spectacular, quad biking along the rough north coast can release the necessary adrenaline and taking a big boy in with deep-sea fishing is of course also a great experience! If you prefer something less intensive, we recommend golfing. Curaçao has a number of beautiful golf courses. Hitting a ball over 18 holes with a breathtaking view of the sea does something for you.
